Waka Waka Power

Waka Waka Light Power

Introduction new TU Delft intern

Hello to all the S3C community!

My name is Jorge Alberto Fuentes Casillas, I am a 29 years old Mexican student performing the master programme  Sustainable Energy Technology at Delft University of Technology.

From the 5th of July until the 28th of August I will do my Internship in Ilkerin, Kenya.

The internship that I will perform in Ilkerin, is the installation of a renewable energy system, in which a photovoltaic system will be the primary source of renewable energy and a secondary renewable source will be applied here, which can be either a wind turbine or a small biomass plant. Moreover, a feasability analysis to make the installation of a water pump that works with solar panels will also be done. The solar pump will help to obtain water in an easier way in a zone where this important element is scarce.

What motivated me to be part of this important project, is because I believe that this kind of projects are important to help in the development of these regions that don't have the same access to the basic services as in other regions of the world. Moreover, I have the idea of applying a similar project in my homeland, Mexico, where unfortunately there are hundreds of communities where the access to the electricity is not possible. This project held by ILIDP will definitely help me to have a better picture of what it's expected for me in the future when the time comes to apply a similar project in Mexico.

Finally, I'm very happy and excited to be part of a project where ILIDP in association with S3C perform these activities on behalf of the development and support of regions that don't have access to basics services.

I will do my best in order to get the best results that this project deserves.

Kind regards,

Jorge Fuentes.
